This image is a favorite from the first wedding we shot at the Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park in Evergreen, Colorado. The memorial park is a tribute to the old pioneers of Evergreen and the old west. The 100 acre park is surrounded by evergreens and mountain views as well as the beautiful barn chapel overlooking a reservoir. My favorite part of the venue has to be the colorful stained glass windows that grace the second story of the barn chapel. Although this couple decided to hold their ceremony outside in the beautiful Evergreen scenery, we still got to enjoy the stained glass windows during the reception. Due to the time of the ceremony and the time of sunset we were a little concerned that there wouldn't be enough light to capture many bride and groom portraits before the sun set. Thankfully this couple had done an engagement session with us prior to the wedding, and they totally rocked the ten minutes we had with them before sunset to create some beautiful photos. I was in love with this bride's three piece wedding gown from Something New Boutique. For the ceremony, she wore a delicate lace three quarter length sleeve top over her simple, white dress. Because of the sleeves, she wasn't able to raise her arms much at all, and it made for some posing challenges when it came to picture time, but I think we managed quite well. For cocktail hour and the reception, she took off the lace top to show off her strapless sweetheart neckline and added a flowing, tulle skirt overlay to the bottom half of her dress. It was the end of October, and we were lucky to have such great weather for all our fall weddings that year. We had traveled earlier that morning from Colorado Springs through Denver up to the Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park, and the drive was lovely. To capture this image, we placed the newly married couple in between two rows of evergreens, creating two lines directing your eye to the bride and groom. I loved that these two really were enjoying each other despite feeling a bit rushed to get photos done after the ceremony.
